Is your wick all black? Does your Zippo Lighter have a tough time lighting, or staying on? Follow these simple instructions to change your Zippo Wick:
1-Remove the insert.
2-Be sure that the Zippo is empty. If you are not sure, leave the insert out in a ventilated room for 1 or 2 days.
3-Screw off the flint holder, take it out carefully, along with the flint.
4-Remove the cotton flap, then, with needle nose pliers, carefully remove the "cotton" balls inside of the Zippo. There should be 5 of them. Keep them nearby.
5- If you have not yet changed your wick, then simply pull up on the wick and snip off the black part. Pull the wick back carefully so that it won't go out of the Zippo. The wick should go almost all the way to the top of the Zippo "chimney".
6-Replace the balls of "cotton", be sure to wind the wick with the balls in a zig zag fashion. Put your cotton flap on, put the flint and holder. Fill it up and your ready to go.
(-To replace a wick, simply pull out the left over wick, and replace with a Zippo wick. Then follow step 6.)
Tip: What I find that helps a lot to keep the wick from burning black again, is I fill up the Zippo completely, then I apply a few drops onto the wick, and let everything soak into the wick for about 15 minutes.

How to turn off a Zippo Handwarmer on-the-go
There is another way to turn off a zippo handwarmer on-the-go, so safer and most likely easier.
Keep the handwarmer in the felt pouch. Turn the handwarmer upside down and with one movement hit the handwarmer in your hand so that the burner falls off into the cap. Then keep the handwarmer upside down for a minute or two, open the handwarmer, replace the burner and then keep it for use another time!

Zippo Handwarmer 101 Start Off
I've realized that there are NO websites for detailed zippo handwarmer info on how to use it. So here you go:
1) How to turn on your Zippo Handwarmer.
First, take your filling cup (the plastic thing with the beak) and fill it up to the desired amout (half way for 6 hours, full for 12 hours).
Then, take of the main cap of the handwarmer, take off the burner. Touch the beak onto the cotton and SLOWLY pour the fluid into the container. Once you are finished, put the burner on, light it with your zippo for about 10 seconds, put the cap on and VOILA!
2)How to turn off your Zippo Handwarmer.
If you wish to turn off your zippo handwarmer before the fluid is finished, do as following:
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THE FOLLOWING STEPS. YOU CAN BURN YOURSELF IF YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION.
Take your cap off. Be very careful, because it can be very hot. If it is too hot, use the felt pouch as a glove.
Then, using either the edge of the cap or lid of a Zippo lighter, pry off the burner, and let it drop (GENTLY) onto a fire proof surface. It cools off very quickly, so just a couple of minutes should do before touching it safely. Replace the burner, put the cap on, and your Zippo Handwarmer is ready to be used again.
